How it's going >> How it started The past few days at #ADA2024 scientific sessions have been very nostalgic. Orlando is where I attended my first ADA, and was my first time speaking as a #medtronicchampion following the release of the MiniMed 670G. I was 29 years old and less than 2 years into the founding of both of my companies. It felt good to be welcomed, wanted and celebrated and I embraced it. It felt like I finally found a purpose bigger than myself. On the final day I climbed to the third floor of the conference center to try to take a “different” ADA photo, as if it wasn’t creative enough to snap a photo on the steps like everyone else. I changed my itinerary from Orlando and re-routed to New York for Recreation Dallas work. I was at the world’s largest diabetes conference and my company was doing business with a Big 5 consulting firm in New York City. What could I ever have to worry about? 6 years later, on the surface not much has changed between the photos, because most of the change has happened within. Healthy habits like 5 years of consistent therapy, mindfulness practice and consistent exercise keep me able to meet the demands of my life. I’m married to the love of my life. I'm no longer a "young founder." I’m still hosting Facebook lives for Medtronic Diabetes and our partnership is stronger than ever. I’ve learned and lived the dichotomy of diabetes, refining my beliefs and vision and values even as they are continually tested by time. I still maintain that the true power of patients are the stories we share, whether big or small. I recognize the power of the compound interest of consistency. I saw old friends, I made new ones. . Some times “doing things” can mean “too many things” which I repeated countless times over this weekend. I am obsessed over the quality of the work I will do today, tomorrow and in the future. My youthful ambition is not dampened by the winds of time, but tested, strengthened and shaped by a full dose of reality. I’m like a certified pre-owned vehicle! I have thousands of miles on my odometer and thousands more to come. I’m thankful for the kind words people shared with me this weekend, for the people I've been fortunate to call colleagues and friends over the years and to the shared experience of so many I’ve met through this wild life with diabetes. . Today, I am grateful. What tomorrow brings, I can’t control. What I do know is that the most important things in life are the people you can share it with. As I sat in my home on Monday with my partner, I returned to the work running toward the immense amount of love which fills my life. I hope you all find some sense of that in the work you do, even on a silly little app called linkedin dot com.

61-year-old ultrarunner Linda Carrier is the first woman to complete the World Marathon Challenge (seven marathons on seven continents in seven days) three times. Plus, she has run 78 marathons and 55 half-marathons and is currently running a marathon in all 50 states with just 12 to go. Linda shared with @Healthline what it's like running marathons while using the Medtronic MiniMed™ 780G system to manage her #type1diabetes. “[All] I’ve done is make sure I don’t have any insulin on board…and as I go through the miles, I will usually take a little bit of Gatorade, and that’s been keeping me stable throughout the entire run,” she said. “It’s almost like going back to being a non-diabetic.” Read #MedtronicChampion Linda Carrier’s full story on how she’s not letting diabetes slow her down. https://bit.ly/4biDWsN MiniMed™ 780G system is for type 1 ages 7 and over.
