At DFH, our full-time associates receive 16 hours per calendar year to volunteer with charitable organizations that promote equality, or animal, environmental and human rights. Shouts out to our Guest Service Ambassador, Sparkle and our Lead Cook, Jasper for paying it forward and giving back! Last week, Sparkle volunteered with Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan and Jasper volunteered with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community across the Kawartha Lakes area. Thank you to both for their volunteer efforts and supporting their community!!!

Two years ago today, James Dannecker, our hotel General Manager decided to make DFH his permanent home. James came to DFH on a temporary assignment as Task Force GM to offer support while we searched for our next GM. Well, he loved it so much that he decided to throw his hat in the ring and he became our next GM. James began his career with Aparium one-year prior. James is originally from the metro-Detroit area so he found great joy in coming back home to his old stomping grounds and, we're so happy to have him here. James, your hard work and commitment are an inspiration to us all... Cheers!

We’re honored to partner with NOVA24 a Photo + Film festival founded by two Photography professors from CCS in Detroit. From their website: The Detroit Photo + Film Community is filled with innovators and creators of magnificent capacity. Each deserve to be highlighted on the international stage. Although there are 170+ international photo + film festivals hosted in major cities all over the world each year, we have not had a large scale vision for a festival of this scale in Detroit yet. NOVA24 | Photo + Film Festival, coming in July 2024, will be a melting pot of innovative ideas for both the creators and the leaders of the industry, which will result in many future opportunities. International artists, curators, publishers, and more will find ways to collaborate in city spaces and create a launch point for future relationships.
