As a data enthusiast, most often we find it difficult to get information with messy datasets but we always feel comfortable if we can have an overview at glance. Besides, it takes few minutes for non-technical partners, managers, investors to decide whether what you have to say during presentation worth listening to or not. Thus, it is important to learn how to visualize data and to add captivating features. This give birth to the efficient use of pictures to understand data which could be traced to early 1800s when PIE CHART was invented by William Playfair https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pie_chart. Thereafter, other charts and graphics such as bar chart. histogram, heatmap, doughnut chart and so on came into existence, to gain outlook of data. Some of the significance of data visualization are analyzed as follows:

  • Data wrangling: Use of charts can help in cleaning data effectively which include removing duplicates, missing values, etc. Heatmap is good one in carrying out the task especially in Python.
  • Correlation: In Exploratory data analysis perspective, the use of visualization can help you to determine variables that are correlated to each other. This will aid decision making on which areas we need to draw attention to, for variables that have associated properties. This can also choice of regression analysis exercise.
  • Trend & Growth: Data visualization is capable of telling a compelling stories about when there is fall or rise in the performances in terms of sales, revenue or profitability. This will not only give room for us to deep dive into the cause(s) but also give insights into possible solutions. Moreover, we can get information on what products or services is ruling and when do we have it at the peak.
  • Forecasting: Intuitively, data visualization helps to see the future of businesses especially from time series data. We can predict sales with baseline, upper and lower bound even at the level of seasonal effect over a period of time.

In conclusion, data visualization is key in data analytics not just for fun but to create a memorable print of messages in our customers' brain in promoting brands and to have efficient and effective operational system that promote values.
