WHAT IS CHANGING IN BUSINESS THAT YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OF?

Every week for the next five weeks we will explore business trends that you need to adopt I your business sooner than later. The pandemic changed a lot about business and I am sure you have heard that a lot. But are we blaming the pandemic for a lot but it isn’t always the pandemic as a lot had started changing long before 2020. The change has just been escalated and we have to adapt or fall behind. Be aware.

The first is Remote work setups. Many people had to work remotely as countries imposed lockdowns and people were forced to stay at home. This was not a new concept but many employees did not like the idea. The transformation has been staggering as employees now prefer to work from home and companies have found that it not only saves them money but that people are more constructive and happy at home.

Momentum is on the side of the trend and it will remain long after the pandemic is history. It won’t replace those in- office employees like service work, but 60% will stay working from home.

In a survey 90% said it increased morale, 77% said it lowered costs and 67% said they would leave their jobs if they had to return to the office.

The second is the birth of smart offices. This is a fairly new concept to many people. In effect it is using ioT (internet of things) and AI (Artificial intelligence). This enables people to work faster and smarter, to communicate better and capture real time information. Sensors will allow you to know where people are and inform people when a boardroom is available.

Data will be stored in the cloud and accessed at all times from anywhere. Comparisons of the buildings heating for example, can be viewed quickly and compared with last year’s consumption and then an alert can be forwarded if there is concern.

The third and last for this week is employee satisfaction. This seems to be changing fast as companies now invest into their employees and finding the benefits are worth it. People need to feel like they ae contributing. Clear goals and milestones need to be set. Generous benefits and focus on growth opportunities bring happiness and productivity. Happy people are 27% more productive. Job work and life must be balanced.

Next week we tackle some serious business trends and I look forward to sharing with you.
