This year, we celebrate 120 years of Lowes – we celebrate with everyone that have made Lowes an Australian icon. It goes without saying, when you work at Lowes, you are family. We appreciate and accept everyone’s individuality, this is what makes Lowes truly special. The people in our diverse organisation contributed to the successes of Lowes today and over the many years.
Australia is one of the most culturally diverse country, it truly is the land of opportunity for those that strive for it. Our late founder, Hans Mueller, escaped atrocities as he was growing up and ended up in the land down under. He drove his way to become the most successful privately owned menswear retail business in Australia. Now, with the business in the hands of his daughter, Linda Penn, it will continue to grow and forge new chapters in this humble business.
When we look around, our team members are diverse, from ethnicities to beliefs, demographics to age it doesn’t matter, we are all one race, the human race. There are no judgements and no glass ceilings, we are here to protect our rich history and continue to do what is best for Lowes and its customers. This is our ingrained culture at Lowes, the very foundation of what it truly means to work at a family owned business.
Whilst there will always be those that want to stand in the way of diversity in the outside world, at Lowes we are all for it. We celebrate individuality and have proven to embrace the very nature of what it means to provide everyone an opportunity. As our society norms change, we have also kept on trend, ensuring we are reflective of social changes.
Our employees, the Lowes family, is the beating heart of this organisation, without them there is no Lowes. Our head offices operate as support centres, purely to provide care for our front line teams and customers. We have proven we are here for the long haul and caring about our teams and customers has been the key to a successful Lowes for over 120 years.
