From Cuban Skies to American Wings

Meet First Officer Eddie Soto, who, with perseverance and passion, pursued his childhood dream of becoming a pilot. Born in Cuba, the dream seemed distant due to limitations. Yet, upon arriving in the United States, a chance encounter with aviation magazines reignited his drive.

First Officer Eddie Soto

From self-study to full-time flight school, the journey was challenging but rewarding. After flying for various airlines, First Officer Soto spotted an A300 on the runway at Miami International Airport. Confidently, he manifested “That’s going to be me sitting there one day.”

He now has been soaring with American for over two years, advocating for other diverse pilots to pursue aviation. Despite doubts, language barriers and societal expectations, the message is clear: with perseverance, dreams are attainable. See how you, too, can let your dreams lift off.

I just came here to simply give a shout out to the most amazing Admirals Club employee in DFW! I can’t remember her name but she saved the day! I was in line for 45min w/ AA customer service to see about getting on an earlier flight to avoid a 6hr layover. I was abruptly told no there was nothing I could do and, I would have to buy another ticket at current price. So in prep for the long layover, my husband and I headed to the Admirals club in Terminal D. Upon checkin, I happened to mention I wish I could get out of here sooner and she said “well you just sit tight and we will see what we can do!” While assisting, she told me about her 50th birthday in the Maldives and how she’s been working for there for over 10 yrs and loves her job!!! She Other employees entering made sure to greet us- when I say that she took a 1 situation and turned it into a 10 i mean it 🤩! Not only did she do what allegedly could not be done but, she did it with a smile and it was genuine. So, if your in DFW terminal D Admirals club (entrance next to flagship) and you have the pleasure of meeting her (beautiful brown skin woman with locks and glasses)..know that you are in good hands!! 🥂American Airlines -celebrate your long term empl!

The top management and executives of AA are doing a great job in containing labor costs rise, keeping productivity and profitability high. The question is until when the work force of front line employees will sustain morale to deliver a good product? As we seen before some times big companies goes down , especially in the airline business.
