Trina Solar Japan Energy Fukuchiyama 2.34MWp AgriPV Project has reached Commercial Operation

Fukuchiyama, Japan, 28 June 2024—Trina Solar Japan Energy (‘TSJE’), the Japan regional team of the Trinasolar ISBU (International System Business Unit), is glad to announce that large-scale 2.34MWp AgriPV Project in Japan Fukuchiyama has reached Commercial Operation (COD), with and a Feed-in Tariff (FIT) rate of 18 JPY/kWh.

The major stakeholders of this project attended the COD ceremony, including Feng Chen, Representative Director of TSJE; Masahiro Shimomura, President & COO of NCR Services Japan, Ltd. (EPC contractor); and Koji Ogino, President of Yakuno Agricultural Promotion Corporation (farming type corporation), along with other esteemed guests

TSJE developed the project, which began construction on 17 October 2023 in Yakunocho Ogura, Fukuchiyama, Kyoto, Japan. It used 210N-Type 690W modules with Trinasolar original rectangular cell technology to maximize customer value through high power, high efficiency, high reliability, high capacity, and low cost of electricity. This project will produce 2700 MWh of clean energy annually, equal to a reduction of 1760 tons of Carbon Dioxide per year.

As a relatively large-scale AgriPV project in Japan, this solar plant sets a new milestone for our Trinasolar ISBU team in the Japanese Market. Solar sharing optimizes agricultural land use by enabling simultaneous crop production and energy generation on the same plot, thus fostering sustainable land practices. Trinasolar practices an innovative "PV+" model to promote the green upgrading of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, fisheries, and other industries. This PV power generation model will realize the harmonious coexistence of photovoltaic power generation and agricultural activities.

TSJE's commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria is unwavering. We are dedicated to contributing to the surrounding ecosystem and continually advancing clean energy solutions to pave the way for a net-zero future. TSJE will own and operate this project as part of our transition from being a developer to IPP (Independent Power Producer).

With minor but unique method adaptation, 99.9% land could be used for agricultural purpose as usual along with electricity generation. Operation of agro machineries & harvesting equipment with flexibly remove scarcity of lands of solar pants.
