A Tale of Two Continents: Thomas Lemarie's Global Journey with Tundra

Thomas Lemarié has been a pivotal force in propelling Tundra Technical Solutions global success. As a French native, his move to Quebec sparked an extraordinary career filled with determination, adaptability, and continuous growth. In a candid interview, Thomas shares his inspiring journey, insights on leadership, and vision for Tundra's future.  

From Modest Beginnings to Leadership  

Growing up, Thomas worked alongside his father, an artisan specializing in wood flooring and carpeting, who instilled in him a strong work ethic. "My father worked long hours, and his dedication was well-recognized—this made me reflect on what I wanted for my future." 

 Thomas's Career started taking shape after his migration to Canada in 2006. "When I decided to take on the challenge of moving to North America, it was hard to imagine the direction of my career,” reflects Thomas. 

Before discovering the staffing industry by “happy accident” later on, Thomas worked in the tourism space as a business development representative where his strong work ethic quickly became apparent. "My initial job was doing cold calls and booking client meetings," Thomas recalls. "However, my diligence and capability didn't go unnoticed, and soon, I had more complex responsibilities."

Discovering the Staffing Industry  

After several years in business development, Thomas transitioned to the recruitment field. Beginning his staffing career as an account manager, he progressed as a client executive and sales leader. "I learned the value of persistence, making 50 to 100 calls per day to book meetings. It shaped my understanding of the effort needed for success," he explains. He realized the importance of dedication and long hours playing a crucial role in his future career success.

Joining Tundra: A New Beginning  

After nine years in the IT Staffing industry, Thomas' journey with Tundra began with a LinkedIn message from Micah Williams , Tundra's President. "I wasn't entirely sure at first, but the opportunity to be part of a top-tier agency was compelling," Thomas says. He joined Tundra, driven with a vision to propel Tundra's presence in Quebec. "The potential was enormous, and I felt it was the right time to be part of this growth."  

Now, Thomas comes full circle at Tundra as the AVP of Sales for Eastern Canada and supports delivery efforts for Tundra France.

Thomas's leadership style is rooted in personal growth and a relentless pursuit of excellence. "I want to inspire my team to find their 'why,' refuse the status quo, and think differently," he states. His approach focuses on individual growth, emphasizing effort, passion, and the will to win. "Leaders aren't here to motivate people; they should be motivated by themselves. My role is to ensure they're engaged with our purpose and vision." 

We always need to strive for greatness. We must accept failure and understand why we failed to move forward. We always need to push for success and aim to be better every day.

Fostering Innovation 

Looking ahead, Thomas envisions a future where Tundra continues to innovate and drive growth. "There's a huge untapped potential in Quebec. We doubled our business in four years, and I aim to keep this momentum," he says. His strategy involves understanding the diverse challenges across different sectors and leveraging these insights to enhance Tundra's offerings.   

Driven by challenges, Thomas is now responsible for leading the charge in Europe, managing a remarkably successful team in France for our Direct Sourcing division, and planning to expand different lines of business into new European geographies.
