On the 3rd of June, severe weather struck parts of KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape, leaving a devastating trail of destruction. Tragically, some lives were lost, and many people are now displaced after losing their homes.
In alignment with our vision to be the first-choice brand in the communities we serve, on Friday, 7th June, SPAR KZN DC joined forces with Meals on Wheels and eThekwini Disaster Management to distribute essential food parcels to the community of La Mercy.
In the upcoming weeks, we will continue to engage with various affected communities and extend our assistance wherever needed.
Recognizing that some of our SPAR employees were affected by the disaster, we have opened support internally. This includes psychological support and wellness services alongside our human resources team.
Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this devastation.
