Soundboard - Sales & Leadership

Soundboard - Sales & Leadership

Hi! I received several questions about what podcasts are the most valuable. It was similar to the question two months ago about valuable business books. It is a large question too but also very personal in terms of one's own self-development. For me personally, I am going to share four initial podcasts that have impacted me on an ongoing basis.

This American Life is a weekly podcast. They choose a theme and put together different kinds of stories on that theme. One recent episode had people trying to jump in and solve other people's problems, putting themselves directly in the gap between the problem and solution. This scenario can be applied to sales and leadership when it comes to empowering your talented team versus micromanaging and handling it yourself.

Pivot comes out twice a week - Tuesday and Friday. Kara Swisher, tech journalist, and Scott Galloway, NYU professor, provide insights and thoughts on the key stories regarding tech, business and politics. One recent episode discussed layoffs and altruistic donations. This scenario can be applied to sales and leadership when it comes to handling bad news directly as well as balancing the bottom line and giving back.

Accidental Creative offers business skills training. It offers leadership insights when it comes to leadership, process and mindset. It also provides a lot of ideas and techniques for those creative ideas that need to be generated when working with partners to create solutions to solve problems.

I hope those podcasts and brief insights are helpful. I would love to hear your thoughts on others that have impacted you.

I'm a Pivot listener and also enjoy Ira Glass on 'This American Life'. For anyone with diverse business interest in the area of finance I'd recommend Bloomberg's 'Masters in Business' and for investing insight Morgan Stanley's 'Thoughts on the Market'.
