Second Day of Christmas...

The right candidates are out there but without an efficient talent sourcing strategy, HR professionals and hiring managers can spend countless hours and invest a lot of effort and company resource trying to find them, but with poor results. Continuous candidate engagement will be a key to recruiting success in 2021. Candidate engagement is the process of continually communicating with your candidates. Your goal is to get potential candidates, active and passive, interested in working for your company and to keep them engaged until the right job opportunity comes up.

Solution: Engage with active and passive job seekers

If you want to find high-quality candidates, you need to apply advanced talent sourcing strategies and proactively reach out not only to active job seekers but also the passive ones. Active job seekers are the ones who you will likely find on job boards as they are actively looking for work. Passive job seekers are usually already in work and might not have considered a move, but may be open to one if the right opportunity was put in front of them. The reality is, the best candidates are usually already in a job and if they are not, they are not on the market for long. If someone is already content in their current job, it’s very unlikely they are going to see you advertised vacancy on job boards, etc.

How?

Build and implement a strategy around how you are going to reach and approach passive talent as well as active talent. You might consider looking at your competitors and trying to unseat good people to join your business. Platforms such as Linkedin are ideal for identifying good candidates, particularly if they are already in work, as you likely won’t find them on job boards, but there’s a large possibility they will be active on Linkedin, particularly if they hold a senior position. You should also consider using a recruitment partner. Recruiters are often well connected and have the necessary tools, skills and resource to uncover the best people. They also have the expertise and knowhow to help you build an effective strategy to efficient talent sourcing and keeping candidates engaged. They will save you a huge amount of time, allowing you to focus on other business critical aspects of your day to day role.
