The following seals around the book of Post Merger Integration represent the best-of from my collection of reasons not to do a reasonable Post Merger Integration I heard. Here it comes:

Even though you might think that there is plenty of time to start the integration, to communicate the objectives of the acquisition, the vision and the new strategy. The truth is: You don’t.
You have the advantage of information. The organization(s), the people don’t. This does not only apply to the target organization, it often includes your own organization, the people of the acquiring company.
They are all eager to hear what is up for them. What are the implications of the acquisition. What is going to change. And even more important, who are the others. They want to get to know them.
Not knowing creates insecurity. This insecurity calls for action. These actions will definitely not go in you desired direction.
For sure there have been good reasons to not disclose the strategy during the transaction phase. But soon after Signing latest with Closing it’s time!
Then, time is on your side!
So, keep in mind, reality is fast and will overtake you.
Intrinsic effects of the organization(s) will happen.
You are not in a hurry. But your people might very well be.
