🔔 RICS Whole Life Carbon Assessment Standard in effect from 1 July 2024

RICS whole life carbon assessment (WLCA) standard, 2nd edition, takes effect from 1 July 2024. Designed to help members consistently and accurately measure carbon emissions, the standard builds upon its 1st edition to cover all buildings and infrastructure throughout the built environment life cycle.

What does this mean for members? They’ll need to follow the standard’s requirements when completing a whole life carbon assessment. This includes recording any deviations from the standard, as part of the assessment. The 2nd edition replaces the 1st edition from 1 July onwards.
