How to establish/re-establish respect in your relationship

It is important to recognize that you cannot change another person. You can only change your own behavior. If you find yourself in a relationship in which you do not respect each other, start making changes on your end. Try not to criticize or police your partner’s behavior and treat them the way you would like to be treated. You may find that by changing your behavior, this will eventually impact your partner as well. However, if you are truly in a relationship in which your partner does not respect you, you may need to remind yourself of your worth and enforce your boundaries.
