Recruiters: Don't Panic, Don't Panic, Don't Panic !!

Recruiters: Don't Panic, Don't Panic, Don't Panic !!

Yes, I see most of you out there just panicking coz of job losses. By Panicking you ain't doing any good. Let me help you with a few pointers on what you should do in this situation, this is for Recruiters /TA folks only:

1- If you have been laid off from job, take some rest for a day or two. Spend time with family, maybe do some yoga or exercise, calm yourself mentally.

2- Ask yourself, if you are 2years or 4years whatever experience range, how I have been doing recruiting for last X years? Are there areas where I can improve? If you think yes, then go work around that for couple of days. You see a difference? Now, you are ready for a job hunt.

Here are a bunch of contents which can help you up-skill & its totally free.

3- Come to LinkedIn or Google, look for companies which are hiring. Wait, don't just apply or send request to any HR or Recruiter on LinkedIn & ask for a Job. Just get a list of companies hiring, maybe a handful 6-8. You can be little more strategic here, hunt for companies which are hiring for a similar bucket of skills, which you are also good at hiring.

4- Now, you have the list of those firms ready and you also know what kind of hiring they do? And you have also up-skilled yourself for few days? Great, now you are all set. Send out mails to the HRs/VPs etc of those companies with a basic plan of how you can help them close the positions which you saw are open, what can be your strategies?

5- How can you mail them with a strategy or a plan? Lets say, the companies which you have shortlisted to apply are hiring for Data Engineers or BigData guys. Below is a method to create a plan:

  • Job Boards: Look how many are available in last one week from companies which can be competitor or potential companies from which they can hire. (If you dont have access, then ask any of your friend to help you with this market analysis)
  • LinkedIn: Run searches on LinkedIn & some X-Ray searches to find who can join immediately. Check this article to read how to spot immediate joiners on LinkedIn

Today, thousands of jobs are lost & by just sending out a resume dont expect a call to come your way. Getting a call letter for interview is a lucky draw thing today. If you follow the above steps, you also end up learning & your profile stands out from the rest. This increases your chances of hiring.

UNVEIL YOUR SKILLS, NOT JUST YOUR RESUME
