Recognizing Customer Service Week

Recognizing Customer Service Week

October 3-7 marks Customer Service Week. While I’d like to think that every week is customer service week it’s nice to take a moment to recognize the importance of customer service and the people who serve and support customers on a daily basis.

At United Guaranty, we have implemented a program to commemorate Customer Service Week that we’re calling Customer First. It’s an opportunity for managers and colleagues to recognize employees that have offered great service to a client – internal or external. Employees that are nominated are, of course, recognized through company communications for their commitment to putting the customer first, and we’re planning on sharing some of the best stories with all employees on our corporate Intranet. Additionally, nominated employees are entered for a chance to win gift cards to retailers and businesses that are known for delivering an excellent customer experience.

This is our first year trying to build some engagement tied to Customer Service Week. I’m interested in whether other companies have had any success stories around employee engagement.

At one organization we had one day during this week set aside as the "Perfect Day". On that day everyone strived to do their roles and responsibilities to the best of their ability. YES there were still problems and issues, but they got escalated to someone that could resolve them rather than being put into the "too hard box". It really was no different than any other day but it gave us that little edge in motivation and esprit de corps on "The Perfect Day".

Customer First sounds like a great initiative to drive employee engagement!
