Put Me in, Coach! (Job Postings 07.11.23)
Yerrrrrr....
Back again with another one. I wasn't sure how helpful these would be until a couple of my boys hit me up, mentioning that sharing these jobs has been helpful. The only thing I'm missing is a bit of advice/direction on how to approach these things. Don't worry, I'll start trying to incorporate more free game (see what I did there) for y'all!
Job Postings
- I'm throwing in a quick plug for my recruiters who happen to take a look. Latinx in Gaming created a community in gaming for the LatinX audience on Discord while offering recruiters a chance to find candidates.
- Netflix Games is hiring for a Director/Sr. Manager, Inclusive and Accessible Game Development. Lot of words in here to say this is a cool opportunity and you can find out more by checking out the post. [Posted by: Marie Benigno Ablaza, SHRM-TA ]
- Netflix is also hiring a Lead Concept Artist for their Games Studio. [Posted by: Angel Miranda Jr ]LATAM homies, we got one!
- Airbnb is hiring for a Sr. Marketing Manager to lead efforts across Argentina, Chile, Colombia, & Peru. You need to read the full post on this one to do it justice. [Posted by: Teresa Riva Orsolini ]
- Stumbled across a post that had a ton of opportunities in it. Anzu.io is looking for a handful of roles, IZEA is looking for a remote Campaign Manager, & Livewire is looking for a Client Partner who can be a hybrid in NY. [Posted by: Brandon Painter ]
- A reliable connection of mine posted he is looking for a Sr. to Dr.-level Social Media Strategist for a contract opportunity. I don't know much, but you can ping him with questions! [Posted by: Jake Schneider ]
- Harness is looking for a Creative Director who can be remote. Grace (the poster) raved about what it was like to work with Lindsey Dillon , who is hiring for the role. [Posted by: Grace Gordon ]
- Outside of making it extremely easy for me to go crazy on buying things from Amazon, Affirm is hiring for a Senior Director, People & Organizational Success. Aka... bring your A-Game and check it out. [Posted by: Tia Quashie ]
- A16Z GAMES is looking for a Marketing Partner who has experience in the gaming space to join their team. My boy Antoine Burton shared this one with me, so you know I had to include it! [Posted by: Doug McCracken ]
Aye, That's Lit Af (Job Opportunity Spotlight)
- Admittedly, this one snagged a spot simply because of my nostalgia for this company. My first ever corporate job ( FCB Global ) is hiring for a ton of Strategy roles. You have to be in Chicago, but honestly, that city is unmatched... in the summer. The people and food make up for the winter. [Posted by: Mollie B. Partesotti ]
- Ran across this and loved it, especially for my more junior network, those just starting out or looking for a career change. Michael found a ton of internship opportunities based on when you graduate. [Posted by: Michael Thomas ]
Quick Game
Rule of Three: Okay, now to give you something of value (at least, I think). One of the things I always lead with when it comes to advising on the job search is my rule of threes.
Now, this was definitely born out of an extremely immature place, so no judgments... In college, some of my boys and I would challenge each other to see who could get more numbers. Now... I'm far from a model and am built like a stick (even more so at this time), so needless to say; it didn't always go well. I failed more than I succeeded. However, I did pick up on one trick that helped with my anxiety about rejection. Each time I was rejected, the following conversations would get easier. Almost as if you can't kick me lower than I am. This is when I embraced this mindset professionally (no, not in picking up women; I'm happily married now).

I follow a simple method for every company I would love to work with in the future or admire. Try to meet and connect with at least three people. I stress going beyond the recruiters and HR (although they're amazing!) and meeting people across the org. It doesn't matter if I would report to you, you report to me, or we simply share the same work email address.
Taking it a step further, I make it a point to make it a relationship, not a transaction. I'm not there asking for work. I'm here to connect on an album dropped by an artist that we both love. It won't always work, and sometimes you get ghosted, but after a while, you get numb to those who don't respond/care to connect. Here are some examples of folks I've connected with and legit enjoy convos whether I would work with them or not...
- Josh Jacobs (he/him/his) and I connected over our love for Big Sean. Whenever there is new music, I'm hitting him up!
- Antoine Burton catches the smoke in Duty (for the non-gamers, the translation is that I kick his a** in Call of Duty... Since he can't defend himself in this newsletter, I guess he has to accept his place under me in skill).
- Jeff Pabst was once my boss and is now a trusted source for inspiration, gaming news/convo, and life advice.
Again, these are some examples of people I've grown relationships with (at least I think ha) versus simply connecting with them for a job or to plug me with the person who has the job.
Remember, I'm just sharing these roles and don't have the Midas touch on them. I'm still willing to review resumes/portfolios and give advice though!
Thanks for reading, and good luck!
