PSECU Paves the Way to Homeownership with an Expanded Mortgage Approach

PSECU Paves the Way to Homeownership with an Expanded Mortgage Approach

By: Jose Pascual, Head of Mortgage and Commercial Banking, PSECU

@PSECU is committed to improving the homebuying journey, and I am pleased to share some exciting updates to our growing mortgage products and services.

We have long operated with a successful consumer-direct model that consolidates our mortgage specialists in a central location. This year, PSECU expanded its origination model by adding mortgage loan originators located in the market. We hired the first three experienced mortgage originators, @Helene Hogan, @Julian Light, and @Robert Wagner. Known for their deep relationships and top performance in Central PA, they each bring a wealth of knowledge from their years in the industry.

Our model has evolved from only being office-bound to placing some of our skilled specialists directly in the field, enabling us to foster stronger relationships with not only aspiring homeowners but realtors and builders. This shift allows us to develop deeper in-person connections with those influential members of the community who can recommend our services to their clients.

PSECU has also launched a new loan origination and point-of-sale system to streamline the mortgage process. This integration improves the borrower experience by offering enhanced self-service capabilities while retaining the personalized assistance that remains at the heart of our business.

Recognizing the financial challenges many faces in building new homes, PSECU is actively expanding into construction loans. This initiative enhances our partnerships with homebuilders and tackles persistent inventory shortages, empowering more members and families to construct their dream homes.

In addition to these enhancements, we are proud to support our community through financial education resources and first-time homebuyer seminars. These initiatives are more than just services; they represent our commitment to empowering prospective homeowners with the knowledge they need to investigate the complexities of real estate, ensuring they feel confident and informed every step of the way.

Each of these components contributes to our growth and success. @ACUMA (American Credit Union Mortgage Association)’s 2023 Top Credit Union Mortgage Originators report recently ranked PSECU #56, moving the company up 54 positions in the ranking in just two years. But we won’t stop there.

As we look ahead, PSECU aims to become a top mortgage lender in Central Pennsylvania and a dedicated steward of our community. We build relationships and support our members through every life milestone, ensuring their path to homeownership is as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

My message for PSECU's current and future members is simple: Focus on finding the right home for you and your family, and let us handle the tedious mortgage process. My team is here to ensure that your path to homeownership is successful and stress-free.
