The Mdewakanton, “those who were born of the waters,” have lived on Prairie Island for countless generations.
In the spirit of being a good neighbor, in late September, Prairie Island and Treasure Island Resort & Casino teamed up with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Minnesota Lynx and MATTER ® and assembled 4,000 MATTERbox snack packs. The packs were filled with nutritious food and inspirational messages to be delivered to the Upper and Lower Sioux Communities on October 9, Indigenous People's Day.
