OSCAR'S SO WHITE- Telemundo 51

OSCAR'S SO WHITE- Telemundo 51

Ok, Artists, Fans, Fashionistas and the rest, the #oscarssowhite were here and thank God they are finally gone. Oscar’s night was uneventful. The third degree of separation between nominated, wanna be nominated and white winners was impossible to swallow, and it seems like no one ever came to an agreement.

Just too many jokes about races, and in so many occasions a little tasteless, in my opinion.

The Oscar’s is the biggest night in movies and that night we lost the goal of the Academy Awards.  In the middle of the night, it was time to say, "World, Stop"!  Unfortunately, they carried on with the subject until the last minute.

Ok, now let’s talk fashion!  Since we already know that all the Oscars went to the whites, most of the presenters were black.  I hope next year there is more equality between American actors period!!  All good actors have the chance to win the gold.

Going back a few days before Oscar’s night,  I received a phone call from Mariana Rodriguez,  the host of Acceso Total of Telemundo-51. She invited me me to talk about the Red Carpet and one of my favorite subjects,  FASHION.  I gladly accepted.  One, because I love Mariana and second, because I respect Telemundo 51, which has been giving me the chance to express my fashion knowledge to its viewers in past fashion segments.

Maybe you don’t know this, but every time I have a TV presentation I take my time, do my homework, review the designer’s brand, and the person who wore the gown, the collection, and the season the design belongs to. I don’t like to misinform my fans.  The Oscar’s segment last Sunday was a lot of work from watching the Red Carpet on E, checking Vogue.com and paying close attention to social media so every detail was right.

Finally, the big day was here.  I was going to the studio at Telemundo 51 to talk about fashion with my dear Mariana, which by the way, honored me by wearing a dress from one of my designs from the analili collection of spring 2016.

If you have not seen the segment, you can see it on my page on Facebook - Style with Willie-M and please like the page. Thanks!

In the panel of the show were Mariana, Luis, and myself.

And here are my three best dresses of the night.

3 - Alicia Vinkander in Louis Vuitton, Alicia was nominated and also won the Oscar for the movie “The Danish Girl.” Alicia has been one of the faces of LV this award season and this yellow dress was Iconic. Just a small note:  It took the French house five months to finish it.

2 - Olivia Wilde in Valentino Haute couture from the collection Spring 2016. She reminded me of a sexy Greek goddess. The color, the pleaded fabric, the deep neck line and open back, did not leave much to the imagination. This reminds of Jenifer Lopez in the green Versace dress a few years back.

This dress defined what I recommend for an Oscar’s red carpet.  Time will tell and you will see how we be talking about this dress in the years to come.

1 - Lady Gaga in Brandon Maxwell. This white strapless jumpsuit with an over layer skirt and show stopper train was the hit of the night. I will call it perfection.

Gaga was nominated for the song, “Till it happens to you.”

Gaga took the risk from all the latest fashion week shows around the around the world. Her sense of style made it unique and she owned the Red Carpet as no other did that night.

The worse dress of the night goes to Heidi Klum. This time the super model took a dress from the Marchesa pre-fall collection 2016 straight from NYC fashion week.

It is said that her stylist was at the Marchesa runway and took the dress from back stage. Well, they did not do a good job! There are dresses that are meant to stay on the runway and never be seen again. This is the case with this gown. With so much fabric I can design a whole collection.

The best man dressed, goes to Jared Leto in Gucci. So HOT!

The Oscars, the Red Carpet and my friends in Telemundo 51 made my weekend. I had a great time preparing for the Oscar's fashion segment and an awesome time during the show.

There is so much to learn and so little time.

Now, as always, I would love to hear your opinions about the show, what you thought about my comments and which were your favorite and worse dresses.

Great article Willie. I like the style of your reporting. Last Gaga certainly rocked the house. She is the most versatile-in-genres of singers the world has, ranging from country music, hip-hop, to classics like 'The Sound of Music.'' She was perfect for the David Bowie extravaganza. Well I am glad you picked her as number 1 in fashion. Your Telemumdo 51 friend's dress looks great on her. As far as your comments about the show. Enough time has gone by to forget about how they tried to balance the races. With so much going on in politics leading up to Marco Rubio's drop, I was trying to think back to the political 'races' when you first mentioned it. LOL
