Under the theme “Advancing the Intelligent World”, Huawei showcased its leadership in advancing the telecom industry with two groundbreaking announcements: the commercialization of 5.5G, and the launch of the industry's first Telecom Foundation Model. Li Peng, Huawei's Corporate Senior Vice President and President of ICT Sales & Service, emphasized the rapid adoption of 5G, which has already connected 1.5 billion users globally, and highlighted the convergence of 5.5G, AI, and cloud technologies as a catalyst for unlocking new applications and capabilities.

"As 5.5G, AI, and cloud converge, carriers can unlock the potential of new applications and capabilities. Together, I'm confident we can drive incredible new growth," he stated.

Meanwhile, Yang Chaobin introduced the Telecom Foundation Model, designed to enhance service innovation, operational efficiency, and network productivity, aligning with 5.5G intelligence goals. This model leverages Huawei's extensive experience to provide intelligent support across various operations, propelling the industry towards a more intelligent and efficient future.

#BetterTogether: Building a Better Intelligent World with 5.5G

At this year's Better Together Forum, a panel discussion themed "5.5G Is Now, Building an Intelligent World Together" brought to light the transformative potential of 5.5G in various sectors. Moderated by Ronald van Loon , the panel explored the profound impact of 5.5G on industrial automation, consumer experiences, and cybersecurity, emphasizing the technology's role in enhancing connectivity and fostering innovation. In his article, Van Loon highlighted 5.5G's capability to support smart cities and IoT applications, stressing the importance of network performance enhancements for a truly connected future.

Echoing these insights, Smriti Mishra shared her insights on the transition to an intelligent digital world, underscored by Huawei's leadership through the launch of the Telecom Foundation Model and its commitment to sustainability and innovation. The collective voice of the forum shed light on the critical need for collaboration across industries and governments to overcome challenges and fully unlock the potential of 5.5G.

The Driving Force Behind Tomorrow’s Smart Living and Manufacturing

As 5.5G advances, its influence can be felt from homes to factory floors. Karim Benkirane of du highlights 5.5G’s critical role in delivering broadband through Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and enabling future-oriented applications like 8K video streaming and naked-eye 3D gaming with its superior speed and low latency.

On the industrial front, Professor Boy Luthje points to 5.5G’s transformative effect on smart manufacturing, enabling wireless factory networks that are more efficient and adaptable. As we move forward, the continued expansion and refinement of 5.5G technology promise to unlock further innovations, marking a significant leap towards a smarter, more connected world.

An Impressive Feat at the Global Mobile (GLOMO) Awards during MWC Barcelona 2024

Huawei’s groundbreaking technologies and collaborations were celebrated with multiple GSMA GLOMO Awards at this year's MWC24! The innovative RAN Digital Twin System led the charge, earning the "Best Network Software Breakthrough" award, while their collaborative efforts with industry partners on enhancing power grids with 5G technology secured the "Best Private Network Solution".

The company's strides in eco-friendly innovation were recognized with awards for the "0 Bit 0 Watt" solution, optimizing energy efficiency in 5G networks, and the Green Antenna Series, which supports the construction of sustainable networks globally. Huawei's dedication to enhancing user experiences was also acknowledged with the win of "Best Mobile Operator Service for Connected Consumers" alongside telecom partners for revolutionizing 5G live streaming services.
