MIDC Successfully Assumes Operations of 1,020 Towers from Globe Telecoms

MIESCOR Infrastructure Development Corporation (MIDC) is pleased to announce that it is fully prepared to assume the operations of the 1,020 towers recently handed over by Globe Telecoms. This significant milestone marks another step forward in MIDC's sale and leaseback deal with Globe, which includes 2,180 towers.

Since the inception of this partnership, MIDC placed paramount importance on securing the sites. Immediately after the deal's closure, the company swiftly implemented robust security measures, including Bluetooth locks and a stringent site access protocol. Additionally, MIDC bolstered site security by deploying roving guards in critical areas, ensuring the safeguarding of these valuable assets.

To maintain the highest standards, MIDC has also made substantial progress in conducting comprehensive site audits to verify the condition of the transferred towers. Through close collaboration with Globe, MIDC has effectively addressed critical variances in both technical and commercial aspects, ensuring a seamless transition process. The transfer of grid ownership of these towers from Globe to MIDC is also progressing steadily, thanks to the ease of collaboration within the One Meralco group.

Concurrently, MIDC is actively engaged in rolling out Remote Monitoring Systems (RMS) across its tower portfolio, partnered with a working Tower Management Platform.

“This advanced system enables us to monitor the status of our sites in real-time and conduct proactive analysis of power and tower performance. By employing RMS and an efficient ticketing and work order system, we reaffirm our commitment to Globe, guaranteeing uninterrupted tower operations and the provision of reliable services” said Mr. Paul Jacob, MIDC’s Director of Operations and Maintenance.

MIDC attributes the success of this transition to the remarkable collaboration with Globe and its dedicated team and technology partners, which has been instrumental in ensuring smooth and efficient handover-takeover activities. This mutual commitment to delivering excellence will drive the success of this transition, until the very last tower has been integrated into MIDC’s operational framework.
