Meaningful Moments at Encore

As the Social Director for Encore Luxury Living, Lee Ann Mangiaracina spends a majority of her day interacting with residents. “It’s one of the things I enjoy most about my job. Learning about their lives, what their interests are – allows me to curate experiences they will enjoy.”

Morty and Alice Steinberg are relatively new to the Encore community. After spending time with the couple, Lee Ann learned their 72nd wedding anniversary was February of 2023. A casual conversation with a co-worker, where she mentioned the Steinberg’s upcoming anniversary, led to a brainstorming session and the idea for a special event. Lee Ann approached Alice and Morty and asked if they would be interested in renewing their vows – suggesting February 14th, since she knew they met at a Valentine’s Day party.

The Steinbergs graciously agreed to allow Encore to host their vow renewal, which was attended by friends, family members, and local media outlets. From recreating Alice’s wedding bouquet to having their granddaughter serve as a flower girl – Lee Ann incorporated numerous personal details into the event, making it even more significant for the couple.

Alice says the key to 72 years of happy marriage is to make sure that your spouse is always your best friend. Morty says their long life together has encompassed many phases and you need to make sure you are growing together, not apart, during the various challenges that life brings during each phase.

According to Alice, happy couples need to be strong in their individuality, but willing to blend together. The Steinbergs say they are blessed to still be together pointing out that many of their close friends have passed and many of their surviving friends have lost their spouses.

Joseph Rauer, General Manager for Encore, says that creating unique and meaningful experiences for residents like the Steinbergs is central to Encore’s philosophy. “Alice and Morty’s love story is truly inspirational and deserves to be celebrated. It was a privilege to help them mark such a momentous milestone in their marriage.”
