Marketing Summit

Marketing Summit

What a wonderful day of insight and inspiration at the National Sales and Marketing Summit in RDS, Dublin.

It has been a full day of topics related to digital marketing, strategies, tools, and case studies relevant to companies, both large and small.

The Internet is a busy place, it's a huge arena where businesses need to catch the attention of users' eyes. If you don’t capture their attention, there are plenty of other companies that will.

Let’s find out how to do that with the 6 main pillars of digital marketing and related technologies.

1) Have a clear goal. If you don't know what to measure and what your objectives are, you are wasting your time (= money). Peter Drucker is often quoted as saying,

“If you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it."

2) Know your audience. Defining your target audience will help you when it comes to developing brand guidelines. The content you generate (emails, campaigns, text messages, blog articles, social media posts, etc.) has to resonate with your audience. You have surely heard

"When you speak to everyone, you speak to no one" [Seth Godin].

This statement is evergreen in the digital marketing era.

3) Platform selection. When selecting the platform to broadcast your messages, make sure it resonates with the company’s strategy, business priorities, and your budget. Marketing platforms are like Swiss Army knives for digital marketing.

4) Content strategy. You want your content to be engaging and inspire your prospects and customers to take action. The more you understand your audience, the more you can tailor your content to their needs, interests, and expectations. For marketers, AI has proven to be a valuable tool for marketers, saving time and money while providing many benefits. Aside from content, AI helps and supports digital marketers with chatbots, audience segmentation, conducting audience research, and improving customer service, among others.

5) Action (implementation, management, and interaction). Boosting your social media engagement is a common goal, but remember, you need to actively participate and interact to make it happen. Long story short, it takes two to tango, so get involved if you want to see results!

6) Analysis and measurement. If you keep on failing to get results over and over again, what can you do to prevent it from happening again? The answer lies in analysis. Nothing is more frustrating than spending hours planning and implementing a strategy that takes you in the opposite direction. But if you analyse and measure what worked and what didn't, you are a step closer to reaching your goal (point n.1).
