From ruin to regeneration: Hafod Morfa Copperworks

Fresh off being shortlisted in categories at the Construction Excellence Wales Awards and Insider Wales Awards, it’s only right that we share more about the transformation of the Hafod Morfa copperworks.

Listed structures. Contamination. Archaeological surprises. The unique industrial history of Hafod Morfa copperworks (once the largest of its kind in the world) meant transforming this now derelict site into a contemporary facility was a challenge like no other for the project team.

But a council-led initiative found an opportunity to breathe new life into this corner of Swansea. After years of hard work, it is now home to Penderyn Distillery, whose new whisky distillery, barrel store and visitor centre is set to attract 50,000 visitors a year.

Our MEP engineers are designing the water treatment systems to keep the waves pumping perfectly at Scotland's first inland wave park.

Leveraging our knowledge of Wavegarden technology, our team will ensure a fully-coordinated and buildable solution using advanced 3D software.

Data Centres: 5 big themes

Data centres stand as vital hubs of modern technology, enabling us all to live our digital lives without blinking an eye. However, it’s a high-reward-high-risk industry: every minute a data centre is offline, the costs mount.

Data centres require highly secure and protected spaces with an uninterruptible power supply, and they need to operate with maximum efficiency. The way the building itself is designed can help it meet those unique demands.

Thoughtful structural design can significantly cut the amount of building materials needed, reducing costs and lowering the data centre's carbon footprint at the same time.

Find out more here, plus four more key themes for this growing sector 👇 https://lnkd.in/eeJ2N8hc
