That's what your employees are about to call you. Keep reading to deserve it.

Hi folks! It’s no secret that your employees want to feel motivated and empowered to succeed. But how can you create a thriving work culture in a remote or hybrid work setting?

In this issue, you’ll find:

  • 🧑🤝🧑 A checklist for your next 1:1
  • 🦾 Growth hacking for your employees
  • 🎯 A guide to setting clear organizational and individual goals

Remote and hybrid work benefits your company, but not knowing how to manage your team can lead to poor performance management and a thorn in your company’s side.

Luckily, there’s a new kid on the block: performance enablement. It’s key to empowering your employees to succeed and feel valued at work.

This month, I’m sharing tips to help you motivate your team, rather than simply managing it. With this advice in your pocket, you’ll close the trust and productivity gaps on your team.

Let’s get into it 💌

Best practices for performance enablement

🧑🤝🧑 Bridge the gap with consistent feedback

Providing feedback during 1:1s doesn’t only mean pointing out the things your employees can improve on. You can turn feedback sessions into ongoing conversations to increase your team’s feelings of belonging.

With regular and actionable feedback, employees are 67% more likely to go above and beyond in their roles. Scheduling weekly meetings with your team can help you promote meaningful conversations. Ask your team members about their past and upcoming tasks: Did they like the latest project? What went well, and was there room for improvement? What’s their priority for next week?

With weekly 1:1s, you can normalize constructive feedback sessions and encourage your team to share their experiences and perspectives.

🦾 Adopt a growth mindset for your team

Focusing on your business growth is essential. But your company’s most important asset is its employees. Did you know that employees are 43% more likely to leave if their manager doesn’t show any interest in their career aspirations? By helping them advance in their careers, you can drive more growth and increase retention.

Start integrating an individual development plan into your company’s performance management. An IDP will encourage your employees to have more self-awareness of what they want to achieve in their careers and their short and long-term objectives.

🎯 Set goals and involve your team in the process

In a remote or hybrid work setting, your employees may inadvertently distance themselves from your company’s mission and goals. By setting clear goals, you can make your team feel productive, motivated, and aligned.

OKRs are a great way to establish both organizational and individual goals. And like any task, setting goals also takes teamwork. When you’re nearing the start of the quarter, schedule calls with your team to do a retrospective. Discussing what went well or badly can help you draw the lines of next quarter’s objectives. Receiving feedback will help you set more attainable goals and empower your employees to take more ownership.
