The Importance of BI Harmony

The Importance of BI Harmony

Put 100 Big Data analysts in a room, and ask them what's most important in a Modern BI tool, and you'll probably receive 100 different answers.

According to Google Trends, there are more searches being done for "data analytics" than for "data visualization." Why? Could it be that the market for data visualization tools has already matured and crested?

Spend some time looking at Big Data job listings on LinkedIn, and you will find thousands of business analyst jobs listed and most require experience with one of the top data visualization tools. When a job listing includes a specific brand of software in its job title, that's a statement about the popularity of these tools. They have become fixtures in Corporate America, and rightly so.

But what about search trends for data analytics? Google Trends reveals that related searches are leaping off the page, sharply increasing over the past year, while data visualization search trends have fallen flat. Why?

Could it be that as good as those tools are that they aren't quite as good at data analytics as they are at data visualization? Quite possibly. Spend some time reading reviews across the Internet, and what you tend to see is yet another trend: most data visualization tools fall short on the ingestion of data and performing extensive analytics. They tend to still rely on ETL which further complicates things and lengthens the overall analytical cycle.

Luckily, there is a new class of Modern BI tool that offers an end-to-end solution that includes data ingestion, data analytics and data visualization all in one software -- Datameer.

Datameer provides 70+ bi-directional data connectors, enabling your analysts to ingest data -- structured, semi-structured or unstructured. You can pull data in, analyze it, join it, clean it, enrich it and then push those results back out to another system or tool.

Datameer includes a familiar spreadsheet interface enabling quick adoption amongst your business analysts, and it has over 270 functions and guided machine learning which enables even non-technical users to identify outcome likelihood and column influence.

Lastly, Datameer also enables your analysts to tell compelling stories about their data by combining 30+ infographics with their narrative.

But what about your existing investment in data visualization software? Does adopting Datameer mean you must sunset your prior investment? Not at all. Datameer is bi-directional, so data can flow both ways. First ingest and purify your data within Datameer, and then export it to your data visualization tool to operationalize that data.
