The Impact of Innovation

Introduction

“As healthcare organizations face unprecedented challenges to improve quality, reduce harm, improve access, increase efficiency, eliminate waste, and lower costs, innovation is becoming a major focus once again “(Health Catalyst, 2014).  Due to the increase of chronic diseases the healthcare industry has seen the need for the increase need in innovation due to the rising increases in costs, shortages of providers and the advancement in technology is producing a higher need for innovation to keep up with the supply and demand of goods and services. The increase in innovation in the healthcare industry varies from improving customer service, implementing new organization models and maximizing marketing tactics. With the evolving shifts in technological advancements, medical organizations are utilizing computers as a way of communication where it involves technology and human interface without having to utilize an “old school” way of processing information internally and with patients. For example, patients who may have a neurological diseases or impairment may not be to use the functions of communication such as talking, movement or interaction with the adoption of artificial intelligence could assist with those functions to those particular patients.

“AI allows physicians to make better decisions regarding patient interventions, reduces physician burnout, and improves the image analysis process by "quickly making sense of the mountains of data within a physician's EHR system," (Advisory Board, 2018). This is important in any health care organization because with the evolution of HER’s physicians are able to look at patient information in real time, are able to input their information accurately and ensuring that the information is protected and safeguarded. It allows the physician to spend less time dealing with paperwork and more time with the patient, and it allows the patient to have easier access to their medical information.

Conclusion

In conclusion, AI has been an integral part of the healthcare industry and has attributed to so many innovations to different processes and practices. The evolution of AI has not only been able to provide safe living services to patients, but it has assisted in the better productivity of healthcare organization.
