Our factory in Kistelek has been developing unstoppably - for 8 years now.

More than 40 years. For this length of time, we have been striving to meet the evolving needs of our customers in Kistelek and the rapidly changing demands of the world. However, the essence has remained unchanged: reliable, high-quality products, a family-friendly environment, and a continuous commitment to innovation.

The growth of our factory, starting from 2015, accelerated to a higher pace, thanks to a substantial investment required for the initiation of rubber cable manufacturing. Subsequent developments in the machinery continued; in 2016-17, new machines were introduced to the metallurgy and insulating areas, and last year, we added another insulating line. There will be no shortage of improvements this year as well: two new extruders and automatic packaging lines will be installed. The main goal of the investments in 2023 and 2024 is to increase the production capacity of flexible building wires and control cables, aiming to boost our output by nearly 5000 tons annually.

The efficient operation of this well-oiled machinery in Csongrád County is currently overseen by more than 260 employees on-site, many of whom came to us from Indonesia to deepen their engineering and other university studies with practical knowledge. Recognizing our employees as crucial links in our manufacturing processes, we strive to enhance their working environment accordingly. Making the factory canteen free of charge was just one of the initial steps in these changes; we are replacing the factory floor with an epoxy surface and renovating our office buildings. All of this is accompanied by the “zero accidents” approach, reinforcing the importance of workplace safety.

At Prysmian Group, alongside the development of our team and machinery, we prioritize technological advancement. In 2023, we initiated the implementation of a digital production tracking software, aiming to replace paper-based monitoring. This initiative enhances efficiency in the areas of production, logistics, and quality assurance through instant online production supervision, inventory tracking, and online traceability.

While this undertaking demands significant energy, Prysmian Group, true to its core values, has found a sustainable solution. In 2022, a solar panel park with over 5700 panels and a total capacity of 3 MW was commissioned. This allows us to cover 20% of our annual electricity consumption from renewable sources, concurrently reducing the factory’s CO2 emissions by approximately 2200 tons per year. To put this in perspective, the annual CO2 emissions of an average car are roughly 2 tons.

The cable factory in Kistelek can rightfully be considered a flagship in the Central-Eastern European region.Thanks to the dedicated workforce, continuous sustainable development, and well-made strategic decisions, the factory produced over 36,000 tons of cable in 2023. The sky is the limit for what lies ahead.
