Freelancer #WeeklyWins 22/04/2024 - fully booked, egg and chips cooked, networking hooked.

It's been a networking kind of week, with lots of you lovely people espousing the delights and positivity of fellow freelancers and networking groups.

I used to live in Milton Keynes, where I once worked out that you could physically network morning, noon, and evening every single working day of the week apart from Monday morning. These days my networking is mostly online, but it still brings me some fab results, from being quoted in a Fortune Magazine article on AI generated LinkedIn articles, to selling more Google Search Console training sessions than I expected, right through to the commiseration I received when LinkedIn told me I was the same as Neil Patel (IYKYK).

Here are some of the #WeeklyWins from the last seven days - the ones that LinkedIn bothered to tell me about, at least.

Rob Dodsworth had a very people-y week, with Coffee and T, chats about future collab, and some body doubling to get work done. (Apparently 'body-doubling' is the cool kids' term for co-working, not some bizarre science fiction thing - who knew?)

Berenice Howard-Smith did some great work on Squarespace, took some time to pause, and celebrated being pretty much booked (apart from small projects) until the end of June.

Phil Shorland posted a new blog abut tough truths for freelancers, talked about momentum, and found inspiration in networking.

JULIA ZATTA celebrated not getting fined after a tax audit in Spain, a new video script contract with an awesome SEO copywriter (me, it's me), and getting leads for a new client on Instagram.

Dr. Nsisong. MPH, FIMC, FETP . was feeling grateful for many things, including being fully booked, meeting new prospects, and writing about health issues.

Andy Goldman got some great things from some great networking, had posh egg and chips with a lovely group of people, and spent 3 hours learning more about shoulders.

Dee Primett had an editorial article featured in the Boots magazine, and the busiest April she can remember in 9 years of freelancing. I still haven't managed to find a copy of the mag, but I'm still looking Dee!

Katie Murray was all about the networking this week, with some meetups with fab people, a new cohort of her Nail Your Networking Intro coming up, and being a finalist for Networker of the Year.

Matt Drzymała got some work from his networking, improved the SEO on his older blog posts, and bought some stripey socks. What's not to like?

Katarzyna Rączka set up a spreadsheet to track her LinkedIn posts, completed a chunky legal translation, and won some writing feedback from a writing community.

Apologies if your #WeeklyWins didn't make the newsletter - I'm swamped by notifications and the hashtag search isn't the best at the moment, thanks LinkedIn.

Please do check out this week's wins and consider leaving a quick comment - commenting on posts helps your reach on LinkedIn as well as the author's, so it's a win-win. You can find more wins by searching for the #WeeklyWins hashtag, or clicking this handy link I made for you.

Take part in #WeeklyWins

There are 3 ways to take part:

  1. On a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, start a new post and tell everyone about a few of the wins you've had that week. They could be personal, business, or a mixture of the two. Anything goes, whether it's a great meeting you've had, a fab newsletter you've sent out, a project you've finished, or a testimonial that made you smile. Even if you've had a frankly shitty week, look for the positive bits that make it not quite so crap. Trust me, it'll cheer you up as much as the people that read it. Use the hashtag #WeeklyWins and tag me in it so I see it.
  2. If you'd like to record a #WeeklyWins interview with me, book a slot to record the interview. It's informal, pretty much anything goes, and you can do it wearing your PJs if you like. All I ask is that you're a regular participant of #WeeklyWins. DM me if you want more details.
  3. Every Tuesday PM, from 2-4.30, I run a drop in coworking session for freelancers that need a little accountability and some friendly faces while they work. It will be on Zoom, and run on the Pomodoro method, which is a quick intro, 25 minute sessions of working, 5 minute chats in between. Join for an hour, join for the whole session, cameras on or off, pop in late, leave early - it's up to you. There's one tomorrow, you can join any time from 2pm. The link will be the same every Tuesday afternoon.

And, finally

If you know someone that's struggling to post on LinkedIn, #WeeklyWins is an easy and lovely place to start without too much pressure. Please ask them to take part, and to drop me a DM if they're at all worried.

That's all from me for this week. Have a good one.

Nikki.

P.S. If you want to know more about me, this is a good place to start.
