The fifth element: an offered hand can change everything! The U2 example

What is the distance between success and anonymity in professional life? Most of the time nearly nothing... an instant breath, an offered hand, a trust and a wink from your manager, one second under the spotlights in a big meeting. In the Ancient Rome we would have said that "the Tarpeian Rock is close to the Capitol", in contemporary times we prefer the expression "from zero to hero". How many people would have achieved great in important situations if they have been given the chance to express their talents at a special moment? So many times, too humble people, shy people, people lacking confidence are the most talented around the table, have the best ideas, the best analysis, the best understanding of complex situations, but at the end of the day, leave the meeting without saying any word... it is terribly frustrating for them and what a loss for their company if they held the good solution and this solution will never be implemented!

So how to help those talents to express themselves and become the real bests of the game? The answer is maybe in the hereunder link... In this video of "Mysterious ways" from U2 recorded in Chicago during the Vertigo Tour, Bono invites a lady in the audience to come on the scene. One second later this lady starts to dance so great with Bono, that she suddenly changes her own status... she is no longer a girl who paid a ticket to see the stars: she is creating an add on show, HER add on show, suddenly there is no longer only Bono, The Edge, Clayton and Mullen : this lady becomes THE FIFTH ELEMENT OF THE BAND by bringing a new sense to the U2's show for a 2 minutes space !

Maybe it was only a piece of luck for U2 to find the right person at this special moment but ask yourself : IF AN OFFERED HAND COULD CHANGE EVERYTHING?

For those who would like to convince themselves, check the video between 4.00 min and 6.20 min. For the others, just enjoy the video... it is so great!
