Evolution of Recruitment

Evolution of Recruitment

A dear friend of mine (retired CFO from national hospital system) and I connected a few months ago and he explained his experience over the past few years within his systems and the challenges they have been facing since covid. I see things very differently today concerning how staffing costs have impacted businesses, especially within healthcare! When I reached to a different friend (Current CEO, national healthcare system), I discussed being offered an equity role in a startup healthcare staffing agency. I was intending to see if I would be again, allowed the opportunity to serve them in recruitment efforts throughout their system. During that call, the first thing that was shared with me was the massive challenge they were facing was staffing costs, so I refrained from asking for the business. It was quite literally his comment that caused me to finalize scheduling an open appointment I had with Staff Pad to learn more about them so I could discover if they were a better fit to assist them in their efforts…and here we are. So, this was my dear friends’ inspiration and I appreciate the fact that I took the time to learn more about what they offer. 😊 I turned the offer for the staffing company down and have decided to become an evangelist for Staff Pad after viewing them from an employer’s perspective. We can all agree, staffing shortages are a major issue, having now replaced financial challenges as the top concern among CEOs in Healthcare.

I understand most hospitals have their own internal teams however, corporate recruiters, human resource professionals and agency recruiters operate vastly different from one another. Agency recruiters know how to make cold recruiting calls to passive candidates who are not actively seeking employment as well as negotiate and close candidates differently than an internal employee.

In a policy environment where quality measures and patient satisfaction ratings are becoming the basis for reimbursement rates, I’m surprised that VMS systems are still getting traction. Anyone who has read a recent nursing blog can attest, VMS systems are universally despised by the potential employees they represent. VMS paints professionals in black and white, without the ability to distinguish quality, personality, or perform careful reference checks. In the end, some hospitals who have tried VMS systems say that their decreased hiring costs have not resulted in overall savings. While they may see a downward shift in salary paid to their temporary work force, they get what they pay for. Just one “bad hire” who causes a medical malpractice lawsuit can eat up salary savings for an entire year of VMS. Not to mention the increased costs associated with a slower hiring process, attrition from poor fits, and the inconvenience of having to re-recruit for positions over and over again. Providers also lose out on career opportunities while they’re “on hold” during a prolonged hiring process. And for those who layer on a MSP, they lose control of the most important hospital quality and safety line of defense – choosing your own staff members.

I appreciate as the leader of a healthcare system the amount of stress it brings you. I am certain all leaders are focused on taking necessary steps now to ease future workforce pressures and improved operating cashflow. Should you choose to partner with Staff Pad, we can help your teams focus not only on recruitment, but also:

·        improved retention strategies

·        Increased attention to leveraging Advanced Practice Nurses

·        Focus on attracting millennials into the workforce

·        Integrate workforce planning with strategic planning

·        Constant succession planning

StaffPad will integrate with your current teams as extensions of those teams, can help drive each of these strategies into your process while ensuring all your facilities are lowering their operating expenses via staffing costs. StaffPad is already serving $1B healthcare systems and will continue to grow at a rapid rate for many years to come. I sincerely believe Staff Pad will impress your team while relieving much of the financial staffing burden facing Ardent.

Should you choose, we can schedule an exploratory meeting to discover how well we deliver and just how much cost savings we bring through our offering.

We partner with many verticals and excel in every one of them. My passion to assist healthcare is driven by the fact that my industry has caused one of the major issues you are facing today. I’d like to deliver you from that to benefit everyone involved – namely the patients.
