I’m sure a lot of you have noticed that bad actors are stepping up their game. As technology evolves, cybercriminals are adjusting their tactics, making it more difficult than ever to update your security strategies and protect your environment. As defenders, we need to be right 100% of the time, but attackers need to be right just once, so we need to work together to stay a few steps ahead.  

Since threats can come from anywhere at any time, security is never one and done. It’s a continuous journey. At Microsoft, we consider it our responsibility to help our customers get more mature with their security, helping to secure highly distributed and hyper mobile environments with our end-to-end offerings. My team, i.e. the Customer Success team and Incident Response team at Microsoft, want to ensure that at every stage of the security journey we have you covered. From providing you with advice and architecture to helping you during a breach cycle – we’re there, all with the same team and clean handoffs, giving you a singular presence.  

It’s our duty to ensure our customers are protected at every stage of security, from risk assessment and prevention to incident response and recovery. Here’s how we honor that commitment: Our Customer Success team lays the foundation to help build our customers’ security programs. Our team leverages a diverse range of resources to create a comprehensive security strategy for your program, offering advice and actionable recommendations to help fortify your cloud, identity, devices and applications. This collaborative endeavor embodies end-to-end security, with teams aligned toward the common goal of providing you with the most effective security program. But we don’t stop there. Our Technical Strategy team, who takes what we are learning to develop our technical content, furthers these lessons by bringing together teams to improve skilling, share best practices with our customers and partners, who are a key part of our ecosystem, help influence product direction, and foster a connected technical community – all to help improve your security posture. 

But despite the best planning and preparations, breaches do happen. And when they occur, you want a trusted group that can come in to support you, taking you out of a negative situation to become more resilient. This is where our Microsoft Incident Response team (famously known as DART) comes in, ready to assist you within an hour to get you back up and running. Our DART team works closely with the Customer Success team to ensure detection, response and containment is followed by a true recovery and a resilient architecture for the future. Post-incident, the CS teams take the baton to continue working with the customer to find out what went wrong and why, and then builds strategies to mitigate risk, enabling the right protections so customers can move forward with their business endeavors.  

We know you hold us to a higher standard, and we make it our duty to ensure you are protected against the latest cyber threats. My team and I are looking forward to continuing our discussions with our customers and sharing back what we are learning.
