The Difference Between Winning and Losing

The Difference Between Winning and Losing

The difference between winning and losing is so small, it almost too scary to talk about

There is a misconception that difference between winners and losers or winning and losing is that the winners are just more motivated and inspired. NOT TRUE!

We all should seek motivation and inspiration in our lives, but sometimes I think social media leads us to believe that it's always the most motivated or inspired person that wins.

The TRUTH is... the great separator in life that differentiates SUCCESSFUL people and AVERAGE people is that successful people get the job done on the inevitable days, they are NOT MOTIVATED, not “feeling it” the day after a really bad previous day. The day when there are family issues, they are sick, tired, burned out, or lose a big account and have a setback (because we all have them).

What do you do on the days that you are not motivated or not inspired? Successful people DO it even there's no reason to do it! Those are the people that win big.

It is such a small separator that it's almost too scary to talk about. What do you do on the 20% of the days when nobody feels good! It's not that winners are more motivated or more inspired, It is their HABITS, RITUALS, AND DISCIPLINES that kick in when they are NOT motivated. That is the separation!

Remember this, motivation and inspiration are prerequisites to Maxing Out any circumstance but they are never your constant companion. It is habits and rituals that carry us through on the days that we are not motivated.

EXTRAORDINARY HABITS are what allows people to perform on an elite level even on the days where you are not motivated.

I heavily rely on my habits and rituals when Inspiration fails me. I am honestly not an overly disciplined person at all! Instead, When I am weak, tired and under pressure, my mind and body go into the habit-mode. I heavily rely on my habits and rituals to override my motivation.

What are your habits rituals and routines? Guard them. Protect them, and create the ones that protect you the most!

That's great stuff... real talk. When you're an entrepreneur there's not always someone ti hold you accountable. My 'to do list' holds me accountable. The clients relying on me to be timely and accurate hold me accountable. Mt staff looking for my leadership hold me accountable. My children watching my example keep me accountable. And the God I serve who's there even when no-one is watching keeps me accountable. #accountability as a ritual - Just get it done!

Absolutely love this article 🙌 I think it’s really unrealistic to stay so pumped and jacked 24/7. Every time I try that I burn out to a degree. Now I’m focused on learning how to Maxout on the down days, the dark days, and the days that plain old suck. Keep the content coming Ed !!💪
