Disrupting media consumption and developing their own production content is how Netflix is churning so many users. Their "word of mouth" productions like House of Cards and Man in the High Castle gets people talking in a way that it's reminiscent of the early days of YouTube. YouTube was a huge hit for online videos because UGC (user generated content). Now, I think YouTube red will need a lot to catch up in production content.
Google should sign big companies to stream movies/episodes that Netflix doesn't have . Provide some sort of rev share to these companies to mitigate risk. Content that's not accessible on Netflix is a gain to YouTube. This will provide them with untapped monetization that NetFlix hasn't capitalized on yet.
Twitch can take a different approach to growth. eSports seems to be growing their channels and other things like Poker are probably growing their channels as well. Where ESPN is lacking, Twitch can fill and provide a way for users to consume content that they're missing. Great articles Alex!
