Collaborating with Competition in Care

In most service lines, especially healthcare/senior care, competitors are widespread. While services among home health, hospice, home care and long-term care (skilled and non-skilled) along with other service lines are mostly consistent, there are always differences allowing for opportunities to collaborate among competitors.

Collaboration among competitors equips providers to meet the varying needs, so collaborating becomes a true asset to care.

Some differences among competitors can be service areas, variety in service lines (ex: one home health offers speech therapy, while others don't), differences in payer sources (ex: one skilled nursing accepts Cigna, while others may not), desired room layout for assisted living, even current staffing challenges.

We all look to our competitors' weaknesses to focus as our strengths. Knowing our competitors' strengths allow for collaboration for best care when our desire is to serve the community by providing best care.

In the end, if your goal is patient/resident/client care and business success, making your competitors your healthcare partners will support you in reaching your goal.
