Celebrating Pride at Brevo 💚🌈

Celebrating Pride at Brevo 💚🌈

The modern Pride movement of the LGBTQIA+ community began at the Stonewall Inn on Christopher Street in New York City on June 29, 1969. Since then, the movement has continued to fight for equality and acceptance worldwide. And so do we. 🌈

At Brevo, we have always been committed to creating a workplace that is inclusive of everyone, regardless of nationality, race, gender, sexuality, religious beliefs, or any other dimension of diversity. So when some of our team members founded the 🌈 Rainbow Alliance 🌈, an internal group of LGBTQIA+ employees and supportive allies at Brevo in 2023, it was a natural progression.

Since then, the Alliance has worked to create an inclusive workspace that celebrates diversity in all its forms, including sexual orientation and gender expression, through a variety of activities.

Pride Month 2024 may be over, but we are just getting started! First, let's look back at some of our recent initiatives to raise LGBTQIA+ awareness and celebrate this year's Pride Month.

Celebrating Diversity, Empowering People

As a global company operating across multiple regions in Europe, the US, and India, we know that diversity makes us strong as a team and a company. That is why we wanted to use Pride Month to emphasize the realities of LGBTQ+ individuals both within and outside the workplace.

Not only did we decorate our offices in Paris, Berlin, Noida, and Seattle in beautiful rainbow colors, but we also hosted Pride breakfasts as well as queer movie nights to come together in an open and celebratory environment to discuss LGBTQIA+ issues, the history of the queer movement, and much more.

Learn from a queen herself: Minima Gesté Spills the Truth 👑

On Wednesday, June 26, we were honored to welcome a legendary guest to our Paris office. Minima Gesté, the iconic French drag queen and one of the torchbearers at this year's Olympic Games, visited us for an awareness talk and, later, a round of bingo. Rainbow Alliance member Vincent Bucaille-Mézani hosted, and it was a massive highlight for team members in Paris and remotely in all Brevo locations. We got to know the very personal side of Minima Gesté as a representative of queer expression and the struggles queer people face even today.

You learn something, you give something: Our Brevo Pride Quiz & Donation to ILGA-Europe.

We always strive to have a positive impact on the community, not only internally at Brevo but for the community as a whole. That is why we organized fun and educational Pride quizzes in each office location. In addition, we decided to donate to ILGA-Europe, an independent NGO that supports the LGBTQIA+ in their fight for equal rights and social acceptance. You can read more about ILGA-Europe below.👇

ILGA-Europe is an independent, international non-governmental umbrella organization uniting over 700 organizations from 54 countries across Europe and Central Asia. It is part of the wider international ILGA organization—created in 1978—but established as a separate region and an independent legal entity in 1996.

The NGO allocates resources to the LGBTI movement, particularly reaching activists in greater need. In addition to financial support, ILGA-Europe strengthens the movement's capacity by creating spaces for learning and sharing knowledge, including training on community organizing, security, well-being, and campaigning.

Furthermore, they advocate for and monitor LGBTI-inclusive law and policy at the European level. They are the voice of the LGBTI movement at the highest levels of European institutions, holding policymakers accountable and ensuring that laws and policies advance equality.

If you want to donate to ILGA-Europe and support their mission, you can find further information and a donation link here.

The Journey Continues: Empowerment & Awareness in the Workplace

At Brevo, we are committed to empowering our employees to be the best versions of themselves. We know that our differences strengthen us as a team, and we celebrate diversity in all facets. With that in mind, we are committed to creating an inclusive workspace for queer people year-round and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community beyond Pride month. We will continue to uphold the values of acceptance, diversity, and inclusion. Happy Pride! 🥳

Last but not least, we would like to thank our Rainbow Alliance members and everyone involved in the planning and executing our Pride activities so far. We truly appreciate the effort everyone has put into these actions to create a more inclusive workplace.
