Celebrating MDI Awareness Month

As we conclude the second week of the NCUA's Minority Depository Institutions (MDI) Awareness Month, let's take a moment to reflect on our progress and the vibrant discussions that have taken place.

This week featured success stories from MDI credit unions, highlighting the impact they have on their communities.

We kicked off the month highlighting MDIs' importance in fostering financial inclusion and economic empowerment within our communities. Our June 5 webinar featured a roundtable discussion with representatives from the NCUA discussing how to self designate as an MDI and what support offices within the agency can provide.

For more details about MDIs and the NCUA’s support initiatives, please visit the Minority Depository Institution Preservation page. During this month, we encourage you to determine if your credit union qualifies as an MDI and self-designate. When you self-designate, share the news with your community and celebrate!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the Office of Credit Union Resources and Expansion at (703) 518-6510 or curemdi@ncua.gov.
