Hello, cashew fans! At the time of this writing, we already accumulated 153 subscribers to Palmer’s monthly publication: “In a nutshell...” This is only our second edition. We’re excited to further grow our base and share exciting news about the cashew world and Palmer International.

Last December, Palmer International signed a license agreement with U.K. company, Biocycle Innovations Ltd (https://biocycle.co.uk/). Biocycle is the pioneer in truly biodegradable tree shelters made from cashew resins and natural fibers. Palmer is now the sole licensee for this technology in North America, and we are stoked! Currently, the market is predominantly served by plastic products, and while some suppliers are launching recycling programs, we know from our volunteer work that these shelters are rarely collected from the field. As a result, microplastics contaminate our earth and our waters.

Over the last three to four months, we’ve been actively adding to our talent and capabilities to launch these products in the U.S. and Canadian markets. Recently we received our apparatus for physical properties testing so that we can push, pull, bend, and basically try to destroy our biocomposites. Our products need to survive five years in the field without rain, wind, sun, antlers and the like getting the best of them. After five years, well, we want them to simply and safely biodegrade into the environment.

Palmer’s goal is to have something ready for scale by the end of 2022. We can’t wait to positively advance this industry, and along with Biocycle Innovations, help improve our planet. Please stay tuned and follow our progress.
