6 key lessons on workplace transformation & optimising your time with Maja Paleka

I really enjoyed listening to Maja Paleka talk on Futures Voices podcast about how workplaces are changing and the maximisation of productivity. Here a few of my key takeaways. Highly recommend you you listen to the podcast http://bit.ly/FuturesVoicesNo12

About Maja: Maja is the co-founder and director of Juggle Strategies - an Australian consultancy that specialises in the capability and leadership development, as well as implementation of flexible working practices. She has almost 20 years experience in leadership roles across a variety of areas - engineering, operations and sales gained working in Canada, UK and now Australia. For the past three years Maja has been advising executive teams on how they can take advantage of business and people benefits of flexible and agile working, and helping them devise a strategy that is tailored to their organisation.

  1. Transformation: Workforce transformation and changing workplace habits starts with a point of compassion – Understanding the difficulty people are going through. We must understand how it will impact the team not only individuals. Start with people who are motivated.
  2. Tool of trade: With almost every aspect of repeatable  work being automated, creativity & authentic  problem solving become central to value creation chain. The no.1 tool of trade is your brain. The question arising: “Are we designing the way we do work to maximise the productivity and output of this tool of trade?”
  3. Engagement: Engaged employees can innovate, non-engaged ones just follow the rules and you are not getting the most out of them. Give Your Employees Freedom Within a Framework.
  4. Deepwork: Professional activity performed in a state of distraction-free concentration that push your cognitive capabilities to their limit. Place and time are critical aspects of “your” deepwork. Find them.
  5. Chronotype: body preference of peak productivity/performance. If you are working in this time you can get up to 20% better performance
  6. Workplace: COVID19 has transformed workplaces to remote work. We should not just go back to “work as usual” post COVID. Certain changes have had a boost on productivity and we reflect and assess how we move forward.

Maja Paleka love the “tool of trade” point. Even though I admit the benefits of deep work I still think it is overrated for some professions that maximize productivity through multidisciplinary teamwork. Eddie (Edhem) Custovic this stuff is great, keep up the good work 👍.

Thanks Eddie (Edhem) Custovic and Maja Paleka I so resonates with “value driven by human creativity” and “freedom within a framework” the pace of change is so fast nothing can be controlled anymore, focussed direction, inspiration and liberation to let peoples talents shine! Brilliant!
