Road Trip!

Road Trip!

Ok, summer is here, it’s time for vacations! Before we take that road trip to somewhere we have wanted to go to for some time now, there are steps we must take!

We get the Rand McNally out, look at where we are now, the start point, and where it is that we want to go, the end point. We meticulously search for the best route, the one that will get us to the end point in the quickest and easiest manner.

Then we must make our checklist of the items most important to take with us, working to ensure we don’t get down the road before we realize that we forgot something or didn't think of an item. Check, re-check, run the list through our head a number of times trying to make sure we have thought of it all. We remind everyone else to check their list as well.

Now let’s suppose we have more than one car going, then what? Well, we have to make sure that we have the best people chosen to drive each vehicle, and that there are back-ups in case the primary drivers get tired. Safety and making sure we get to the destination is the utmost priority. Yet remember, that only one person can truly be in overall charge of the trip, responsible for the overall planning and preparation; however, there must be responsible drivers in each vehicle that he or she can rely on to handle their level of accountability.

Now no one would take a trip without going over the welfare of each vehicle, making sure that the oil is changed, tires are worthy, belts are sound, and all other parts are going to make it through the wear and tear of the trip. Who wants to have a trip run into the miserable situation of being on the side of the road needing to change a tire?

Never forget that you must also ensure that the financial picture has been addressed, with every possibility thought out. How horrible is it to take a trip, and halfway through to find out that we didn't plan properly, and can’t continue until more finances are found? Everything that could happen must be thought through, and a list of ‘what-ifs’ and changes that may take place along the way must be planned for appropriately.

Now that we have worked hard, planned it through, and worked together as a team, we are ready to reach our destination, and have a great vacation!

What does this have to do with business? Well, everyone needs time away once in awhile!

Then again, maybe you just didn't recognize it the first time you read it!
