The efforts and impact of Zurn Elkay volunteers go well beyond the United States. Recently, a team of 35 Zurn Elkay associates in India volunteered with United Way of Hyderabad to create more than 550 paper bags as a sustainable alternative to plastic. The bags were distributed to street vendors to promote sustainable practices and encourage vendors to adopt the practice more broadly. Every Zurn Elkay associate around the globe gets 20 hours of company time to volunteer annually. #UnitedWay #ZurnElkay #Sustainability #Volunteerism #SustainablyInspired

It's the #WorldNatureConservationDay: A reminder of the ripple effects of green planet promotion and sustainability on global development. As futuristic organizations, The People Network and The Job Plus believe in embedding sustainability holistically in their eco-systems. Our mission is to make a meaningful and long-lasting contribution towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that emphasize the interconnected environmental, social and economic aspects of development. Through our CSR initiatives, we are addressing three key areas: -Restoring nature’s balance with large-scale plantation drives with our partner NGO, #HimalPrakriti; -Promoting circular practices by partnering with Clothes Box Foundation; -Empowering rural communities through improved healthcare in partnership with #Koshish – The Hospice. We believe that by integrating these efforts into our corporate structure, their effects can be increased and prolonged, ultimately helping us to become more competitive, profitable and innovative. And kinder to the planet in the process. #environmentprotection #natureconservation #csrinitiative #sustainability #SDG #afforestation #recycling #healthcare #consciousleadership #TheJobPlus #ThePeopleNetwork #workforcedevelopment Natwar Nagar | Anupama Jaiswal l Anupama Jaiswal |Ambika Mehta- Gautam l Divya Krishan l Diksha Chopra l Swati Singh l Sridhar KR l Shunit Roy l Priscilla Joycelyn Dias l Abhijit Nair l Afrin Shaikh | Shikha Patial

Dipisha Bhujel shares the story of how and why she set up Project Sparśa – a women-led not-for-profit company that makes compostable sanitary pads from banana plants and uses its revenue to better educate young Nepalese women about their bodies and menstruation. "In Nepal, the annual sale of approximately 127 million sanitary items results in the generation of 120 tonnes of plastic waste, primarily from menstrual products, especially pads. This fact was a driver behind my eagerness to find a solution that addressed the issues of both period poverty and plastic pollution in a sustainable way. In 2020, the seed of a new project was planted at NIDISI, a non-profit organisation developing innovative and scalable solutions to address social and environmental issues in Nepal. The idea was to create a social enterprise in Nepal that produces and sells compostable menstrual pads made from banana plants while using the profits for educational campaigns on menstrual health." Three years and 10 months later, our journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. We’ve developed three prototypes, registered Sparśa as a women-led non-profit company in Nepal, established partnerships with local banana farmers and the government, designed fibre production machines, set up a banana fibre production factory, and conducted extensive research on menstrual practices in Nepal. Our awareness campaigns on menstrual health and hygiene have reached over 8,000 people, and the construction of our pad factory is under way. However, this journey hasn’t been without challenges. Working on a stigmatised topic like menstruation, especially as a young woman from an Indigenous community, presented its own set of bureaucratic and complex hurdles. The struggle, though, has been met with unwavering support. Winning the Iris Prize has provided a significant boost to our motivation. The Iris Project was set up in memory of Iris Goldsmith, who died in a tragic accident in 2019 at the age of 15. In the form of a global, annual award, The Iris Prize exists to enable young people all over the world to protect and restore Nature. Sustainable development should look at meeting the needs of the people we serve.
Last week we began providing #soap making trainings to our women farmers in #Chiradzulu and #Thyolo Districts. Because of high rising costs of soap, we decided to empower our dear women farmers with ski.ls to start making their own in their groups so that they can also generate revenue to support their farming needs. Sustainable impact looks beyond what will happen after. We understand the needs of our communities and our support is responsive to such needs without having to divert from our core business; #sustainableagriculture Sustainable impact is simply responsive to the contextual needs of the people we are reaching out to. #sustainableliving #excellenthealth #womenempowerment

We firmly believe that businesses hold the key to shaping a better, more sustainable world. As we navigate the ever-changing landscape of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives, we are proud to prioritise the Social Responsibility pillar as a driving force for positive change. By fostering fair practices, inclusivity, and community engagement, we aim to make a tangible impact that propels society forward. This pillar goes beyond the traditional focus on profitability, urging businesses to consider the broader implications of their decisions, and actively contribute to community development. In line with this commitment, we are proud to announce our latest venture with Time Auction, a renowned charity that champions volunteerism and connects individuals and organisations with NGOs. This collaboration has introduced us to two exceptional organisations: Empathy for the Elderly and Greeners Action. Empathy for the Elderly is dedicated to enhancing the lives of elderly individuals, offering them the care and support they deserve during their golden years. While Greeners Action is at the forefront of promoting sustainable living in Hong Kong, addressing critical issues such as waste reduction, plastic pollution, and food waste. Through our pro bono work, we aim to further strengthen our social responsibility initiatives and make a positive impact on our community. #JointPR #WeArePRPlus #EmpathyForTheElderly #GreenersAction #TimeAuction #Volunteering

#Sustainable #livelihoods: Incorporating #PwD in #recycling. For a truly sustainable future, no one should be left behind. Social inclusion is a resounding call for building sustainable livelihoods so as to create opportunities for the vulnerable and people living with disabilities (PwD). This👇 is my favorite video this week! How PwD are incorporated into waste recycling is inspirational! This is Bali where Yayasan Kaki Kita is helping diabetes patients who have gone through amputation to have a limb. Yayasan Kaki Kita provides plastic prosthetic limbs to patients with diabetes who CAN'T AFFORD them. To Yayasan, life does not stop after amputation and so to tap the productivity of PwD, they create job opportunities and provide training to PwD. Out of 10 employees Yayasan has, 8 are PwD. They recycle plastic waste into furniture like chairs and tables and other products Power quote from Yayasan Kaki Kita: "The job should adapt to the abilities of the person living with a disability, not the disability adapting to the job." Benefits: ✓Empowerment of PwD through employment. ✓Skills development and training for PwD in recycling. ✓Brings in diverse and innovative solutions in recycling practices. ✓Community integration incorporating PwD in sustainability innovations.etc Follow Regina Wangare, let's keep practical sustainable programme/project initiatives conversations going.💪❤️

People-power is key to influencing world leadership/markets by our habits, spending etc.. esp. if everyone joins the fight for Nature's rights by conscious consumerism! I'd add to this list, #GoVegan #BuyOrganic #NonGMO and - course - volunteer in eco-activism / non-profits and/or be engaged AND well-informed (beyond #MSM!) to help turn the tide toward a #JustTransition & make a better, more sustainable world.. https://lnkd.in/gp5ndjd4
