The industry added 37,700 jobs in December alone, with employment continuing to trend up in various healthcare settings. Ambulatory healthcare services and hospitals saw substantial growth, adding 19,200 and 15,300 jobs, respectively. Moreover, employment in physician offices and nursing and residential care facilities also increased. Overall, the industry averaged 55,000 monthly job gains in 2023, compared to 46,000 in 2022.
