Zoe-in-a-box! Hologram fun at London Tech Week with Brit start up Miirage who are deploying pre-recorded displays in shopping centres in UAE. They also see a market for them in airports, tourist attractions, museums. The boss Mark Lister told me Nvidia’s Jensen Huang is interested in a desk-sized version to sit beside his laptop as a digital assistant….
Love that you're having fun with Miirage | Holographic Displays! Imagine .....4k live holographic conversations across the world, celebs promoting brands, education, keynote speaking, retail promotion, wayfinding, Ai avatar assistance, healthcare, law, marketing etc... The use cases go on and on. We have a Miirage unit for each one, so we offer a large design like this one, a thinner design for retail and much smaller design for desktop. The future is bright!
I have seen this live at a cool innovation space in London. I was blown away by the realism. It then struck me, its because it is real! The headshrinking moment comes when you realise that this could be anywhere in the world. It’s the nearest to practical science fiction tech I have seen. This needs amazing wires, wireless and clouds to make it sing…connectivity matters for kit like this! Great movie Zoe⭐️
It's really interesting that this technology is coming along so well. I theorized about this almost eight years ago in the context of the criminal justice system https://theconversation.com/augmented-reality-how-the-technology-behind-pokemon-go-could-find-its-way-to-the-courtroom-72896
Interesting and indeed very cool. Aside from looking like the future, however, what's the use case for these? It's perhaps more immersive than a screen but is essentially still a screen. I'd be interested to know how you see this tech filling a space that can't be done by something else
Is there depth to it Zoe or is it just 2D? Hard to tell from the video?
Fun ! But rich pickings for hacking w AI and cloning ? Or just paranoia on my part 😅 ?
Come on. Do the dance. Big fish small fish big square box.
Thank you for the post Zoe Kleinman. Amazing to have you with us for the Miirage | Holographic Displays showcase at London Tech Week
Revenge of the nerds? Box up the tech editors 😀

1moThat's fascinating! I wanted to attend London Tech Week but I'm about to embark on another 4 week overseas trip, working on a major satellite data project. I've used LiDAR and satellite data to create 3D scenarios for hologram boxes and tables to examine urban and rural environments. I've also seen it used by a car manufacturer, I visited, for product design as it promotes shared collaboration better than VR headsets. Other application are museums where I worked with Euclideon in 2019 to create a demo for the Museum of London visualising London through the centuries, and another for the Indian Space Agency to demonstrate 3D satellite data in their visitor centre.
