Exciting visit to Zhipu AI! 💻🧠 Last friday Ma Qing, Joy Zhao and Sjoerd Dikkerboom visited Zhipu AI in Beijing, one of the frontrunners in the Generative Artificial Intelligece landscape in China. Recently they released their GLM-4 model with capabilities on par with GPT-4. While Zhipu received €340 million in investments last year AI and is rapidly expanding, they also notice that the pace at which new products are being introduced is accelerating, reflecting the fierce competition among Chinese AI firms. The expansion of Chinese AI firms in the rest of the world will likely be a lot slower, as they will face even more competition. At the same time Scientific output on AI will only increase. And Chinese talent is already a major contributor for AI developments worldwide according to a recent report by MacroPolo, https://lnkd.in/gkaHtqe. AI is a focus area for both China and the Netherlands, so we will watch closely what happens in this area.
