🌍Another step to a sustainable future!🌍 We’re excited to announce the departure of the first serially produced 15 MW powertrain from #ZFWindPower in Lommel 🇧🇪 to its offshore destination. These powertrains will be installed in #offshore turbines, each generating up to 80GWh/year or powering up to 20 000 European households annually! Produced on the dedicated offshore line in the serial production center, these powertrains represent our commitment to clean wind energy. The center, housing three state-of-the-art production lines, manufactures SHIFT gearboxes and both offshore and onshore powertrains daily. These advanced wind gearboxes and powertrains will accelerate the shift from climate-damaging fuels to clean wind energy. ZF Group and Voestalpine have announced a strategic partnership to incorporate Voestalpine's low-carbon GreenTec steel into ZF's production processes. This #collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), is a pivotal component of ZF´s ambitious green steel strategy, which is integral to its overarching goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2040. Central to this #partnership is a technological transition from traditional blast furnace methods to innovative electric furnace technology. This shift is environmentally significant, as it is expected to reduce CO2 emissions from approximately 2.1 tCO2e to 0.6 tCO2e. This represents a #reduction of over 70%, a substantial improvement in the carbon footprint of steel production. Decarbonizing supply chains is a critical focus for ZF to achieve carbon neutrality. The use of low-carbon steel is a major step towards this goal, significantly enhancing the environmental sustainability of ZF's supply chains. This partnership with Voestalpine is one among several initiatives to expand the use of green steel in its production lines. ZF has also formed alliances with H2Green Steel and Arcelor, underscoring its commitment to reducing the automotive industry's carbon #footprint. These strategic collaborations are part of ZF's broader effort to lead the way in sustainable manufacturing practices, highlighting its proactive approach to environmental stewardship and #innovation.
