Great news for the clean future of flight: American Airlines commits to the conditional purchase of 100 ZeroAvia hydrogen-powered engines and increases its investment in our company. ZeroAvia is designing an engine for regional jet aircraft such as the Bombardier CRJ700, which American operates on certain regional routes. These investments are intended to meaningfully contribute to the world’s largest airline’s aggressive goal to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. In this video, Naoaki Sato talks through ITOCHU’s adherence to “Sanpo Yoshi” - the old Japanese merchant's principle which translates as “good for three parties,” - the seller, the buyer, and society. We’ve developed -- and real-world tested -- SHAIPS, an AI-driven, scalable smart microgrid optimization software expected to minimize the cost of hydrogen production for clean aviation and other applications. ZeroAvia CEO Val Miftakhov spoke with Yalda Hakim of Sky News at the Breakthrough Energy Summit about the climate impact of aviation, and what can be done to reduce it. While the negative impact of carbon and other substances is substantial, companies like ZeroAvia are building innovative technologies – in our case hydrogen-electric engines for zero-emission flight -- to mitigate them. As Val says: “Hydrogen, of course, can be produced in a zero-emission fashion... which is key to reduce, dramatically, the climate impact of aviation.” Check it out here.
