I don't think we can afford to be One-Trick Ponies. Niching down, specializing, targeting, selling... I think some can. I think some true artists can live from being exceptional but for the rest of us who don't position around a name but rather a category of services (video, events, design, development, marketing, etc.) or a market (full-service for auto, manufacturing, B2B tech, etc.) - I think the ROI on the "agency paradigm" will continue to drop. I think more than ever now it's about people. The right people being helpful to the right people. It's about initiatives. Proposing and leading. It's not about hours, or skills, or even results. (I mean - yes it is, but no it's not). It's not about agency. It's about humanity. You need to LISTEN and be HELPFUL to the right HUMANS! This is why I like the concept of "fractional" - which I see in a lot of bios now. Although I don't use the term in my bio, I think that's what I am. A fractional creative partner. I can fulfill on a variety of requirements, and I can adapt my offering to the needs of who I'm servicing 🔔 and I share thoughts on my journey openly for other creatives to judge! 😅

I wasted my 1-year as a creator so you don’t have to… Reason? I didn't have a proper system. Here's how YOU can build a system: - Have a purpose with a long-term vision - Find your audience persona - Optimize your profile - Define a niche - Create a strategy - Build your network - Grow together with others - Keep a content calendar ready - Analyze your content & try to improve A proper system gives clarity. If you don’t have a proper system, it's difficult to grow. I have made this mistake and realized the hard way. But I don't want you to repeat the same and waste your time. If you don't have a system, invest your time to create it. You’ll thank yourself ;) Do you have a system?

1. organizing unusual events or contests. For example, holding themed parties where clients can get a discount or a gift if they come dressed as a certain character or in a certain theme. 2. using unusual promotional materials. For example, creating brochures in the form of playing cards or packaging for goods in the form of gift boxes, which will attract the attention of potential customers. 3. Conducting free trial classes or consultations. This will allow clients to evaluate the quality of services or goods and be interested in further cooperation. 4. using social media and viral marketing. Creating interesting and unusual content that users will want to share with friends can attract a large number of new customers. 5. Partnering with other businesses or organizations. For example, mutual promotion or joint promotions can be arranged to attract new customers from a different audience.

'Marketing is cringe', 'How can you post that, are you not embarrassed?' True, and in all honesty I think everyone who has just started feels a little embarrassed. Creativity is normally seen as a pipe dream career, whether you're an artist, singer, dancer, graphic designer, influencer or social media manager. Social media has made these careers a whole lot more accessible - it gives everyone the opportunity to put themselves out there to the world for FREE to be discovered. The other day my story post about reading aloud reached 50,000+ people who related and reminisced on a similar memory. Everyone with access to the internet has the opportunity to reach 50,000+ people. And it's only those bold enough and brave enough to start that end up reaching these people and potentially living their dream. It's kind of like The X-factor, only the bravest turned up to sing on stage, not all of them were good singers but they all had balls that's for sure! Not every artist or singer or influencer that starts posting on social media will blow up or be liked - that's just the way it is but what they then take away is the fulfilment in attempting. When you have a dream and you don't attempt it you have to live with the 'what if I tired'. At least if you'd tried and failed you'd know you'd tried and would walk away with pride and a lot more experience behind you. So yeah, it's cringe, you're right. But I think everything that has the opportunity to be incredible is probably pretty cringy in some, shape or form in the beginning. #cringemarketing #startsocialmedia #socialmediamanager #marketingmanager #havetostart

Here’s a funny story. My agency Catch Digital had a number of competitors we found ourselves up against in pitches regularly, especially for UX/UI and dev work. Pitches were a war-like mentality. We were out to crush our competition, so I wasn’t on overly friendly terms with some agency leaders. Simon Landi ran one of our competitors, We are Access Simon’s agency was acquired by the same group mine was, their deal competing just 2 months after mine at Sideshow Group. Suddenly we found ourselves on the same team. We became mates, trading stories of what it’s like to run a busy agency, producing similar work for similar clients. We’ve both left our agencies in the past year, and it was great to make the time to catch up today. If you’re looking for a fractional CMO I highly recommend giving Simon a shout. It’s funny how business competition can turn into friendship. Life has a way of keeping things interesting.

How to be creative on a budget (and why it's actually better): When I started working in the creative industry, I IDOLISED the big, flashy advertising agencies who were creating TV ads. Every creative wants to say they've worked on a £1million production. While working in-house for 5+ years, I learned that the business of creativity looks a bit different to the dream I was sold. More content needed. More ROI. Less spend. Less time. Less resource. I used to get SO frustrated by all the challenges - until I noticed - my creativity was better at the end of it. Because when you are working on a shoestring budget, you are forced to use creativity to problem solve. And that's where the magic happens. ➡️ Understand and simplify the brief: If you try to do everything, you won't really do anything. Clearly define what 'success' looks like and create for that. ➡️ Nail a good concept: Less budget means less elaborate production. This means you have no smoke and mirrors to hide behind. If you can nail a good concept, the execution can be brutally simple. ➡️ Collaborate better: When you don't have money to throw at external teams, you tend to really work hard with the people in your immediate network. You pull on skills you didn't realise you all had. The quality of your collaboration improves. ➡️ Test and Learn: When you aren't spending ££££'s on the work, you tend to take more risk. You experiment more and as a result, you learn faster. This is why brands like Gymshark and Lounge can grow so rapidly. Create more. Learn more. Grow more. In an industry being rocked by technology and a struggling economy, I honestly think that the best creative is coming from brands who are focused on good ideas executed in simple ways. Thoughts?
