This week, Dr. Cesar Cunha Campos, Director of FGV Europe, embarked on an enlightening journey to the Czech Republic, where he conducted a series of presentations at prestigious academic institutions. His mission is to foster fruitful collaborations and exchange knowledge with the country's foremost institutions: Charles University (Univerzita Karlova), Mendel University in Brno, České vysoké učení technické v Praze and INCBAC - Institute of Czech-Brazilian Academic Cooperation. Over the course of these engagements, dynamic discussions unfolded on topics ranging from academic partnerships to cutting-edge research and global trends in economics and business. The exchange of insights ignited intellectual curiosity and laid the groundwork for future collaborations between FGV and these esteemed Czech universities. Lots or works have been done on the topic already however, it remains a hot issue in public and policy debates. While previously much discussion was focussed on transfer of technologies (until beginning 2000s), transfer of knowledge (2005-2015) and finally knowledge & technology transfer and their impact - the social economic and political influence of research on regions, nations, and society as a whole, has come to occupy analogous intellectual spaces with concepts such as public value, third mission, and practice lead-research. The new turn has somehow provided a near hysteric questioning space for contestation to emerge in universities where target setting, evaluation, and measures can be fleeting and complex in form.
