Had fun last month presenting on the good, bad, and ugly of #CarbonOffsets with PopTech. Always a good time getting grilled by Michael J. Coren! Watch here: https://lnkd.in/gBfF9YAQ

Interesting to watch this conversation continue. As Zack acknowledged with his Wright Brothers comparison, the #voluntarycarbonmarket is still getting its wheels. Arguing against the cynical view that large companies' #netzero advertising campaigns are little more than good PR is tougher with 1 year harvest deferral payments. If offset dollars could marry with the vehicle of conservation easements to incentivize long-term protection from development on high-value tracts, we might be able to slow (or at least steer) urban sprawl. If those dollars can augment existing programs to establish pine #forests on abandoned pasture or agriculture lands (afforestation) we can more clearly meet those additionality thresholds. This is especially true if those trees at maturity have their carbon locked up in #masstimber construction, rather than burned for heat in Armenia. Excited to see what this "early flying machine" can evolve into.
