Tight Tech Tuesday,! Take a look at our work on leachability & full scale stabilisations of.PFAS contaminated soil. PFAS contaminated soils have many challenges, but in difference to water, the long chain PFAS are the prevailing problem. This as the shorter more mobile PFAS, leach fast from the soil due to their high water solubility. But the long chains stick to the soil particles as the PFAS molecule have a supra molecular structure and collapses on the soil particle surfaces, crearing almost infinite layers of PFAS crystals. As water passes through the soil, the layers are peeled of one at a time, And as soil concentration is measured and regulated in ug/kg, and water is regulated in ng/l, the deposition of PFAS from soil to water is almost infinite. Soil washing is emerging as a viable and effective source zone remediation method, but with PFAS levels in soil can be low to moderate in massive volumes, there simply aren't enough money or resources to wash the world.
